StarVox will merge international network with domestic VoIP network, while
NGT will focus on managed VoIP services strategy
GOLDEN, CO – August 23, 2005 – New Global Telecom,
Inc. (NGT), the leading provider of managed wholesale VoIP solutions, announced
today that it has completed the sale of its International Wholesale Termination
(IWT) business unit to StarVox Communications, Inc. This allows NGT to focus
on its core competency in outsourced network management services, where the
company is successfully growing its managed VoIP business through offerings
such as the 6DegreesIP VoIP product suite.
“The sale of the IWT business unit is mutually beneficial as it enables
us to concentrate more on our VoIP strategy and it allows StarVox to expand
its network offerings,” said Rich Grange, President and CEO of NGT. “We
are the leading provider of managed wholesale VoIP services in the market today,
and this transaction enables us to focus entirely on maintaining that position.
The IWT business unit is in good hands with StarVox.”
As StarVox transitions the IWT network to VoIP technology, carrier customers
who have used the traditional IWT network will gain multiple advantages. Existing
international termination carriers can use the StarVox domestic VoIP network
to lower call termination costs on traffic coming into the US. StarVox will
also work with in-country partners to establish international VoIP routes to
lower termination costs to these countries.
“NGT spent many years establishing the IWT business unit and proving its
value to the many wholesale carrier customers the network supports today”,
said Doug Zorn, CEO, StarVox. “By extending our extensive domestic VoIP
network to international locations, we’re giving our customers a competitive
edge.”
“StarVox plans to aggressively expand the IWT business by actively developing
new routes as well as expanding existing routes,” said Jeffery Thomson,
Senior Director of International Services at StarVox. “This will allow
our carrier customers to grow their businesses. We have been adding new routes
weekly since acquiring the IWT business.”
